A fishing kayak is an investment that will lead to loads of fun and new experiences. So, whether your night fishing, looking at installing compliant navigation lights, or just wanting to jazz up your rig, take a moment to read through our recommendations below.
1.) YakAttack® VISICarbon™ Pro Light
Coming in at #1 is the YakAttack VISICarbon Pro Light. We love it because of its small lightweight footprint which can be broken down and stored almost anywhere on your kayak. Installation is also a breeze with the included track mount nut. During the day, the bright orange flag assists with visibility. At night, the bright white LED can be illuminated for additional safety. Must have light for anyone doing night fishing or fishing in high traffic lakes.

2.) Yak-Power Full Light System (Best complete light system)
#2 on our list is the Yak-Power full light system. When it comes to overall simplicity, durability, quality, and ease of installation, this is our most recommended system if you plan on running navigation lights, hull lights, fishing lights, or anything in between. The power distribution block allows you to switch 5 different circuits so you can control power to your bow, stern, mid-ship, and 2 other banks. Installation requires some planning, basic wiring knowledge, and comfort drilling 1/4inch holes in your kayak. Though on the pricier side of the spectrum, (basic night fishing kits start at $199) we recommend installing these if you’re serious about quality and performance.

3.) Nightfishion Kayak Lights (Best lights for DIY)
#3 on our list are the Nightfishion Marine Lights. Though we haven’t installed these personally, we like that the kits come with the necessary drill bits for installation and provide a small footprint. Instead of light strips, these are puck style LEDS that are enclosed in waterproof aluminum housings. Installation is simple but it looks like you need hull access to secure the light to the kayak. You may be able to silicone them in place, but we can’t confirm. We would recommend these lights for a DIY system where you have your power supply and switches in place.

4.) BlueWater LED (Runner up for Best Complete Light System)
#4 on our list are the BlueWater LED Lights. We haven’t installed this light system either but watching a few of their YouTube videos and reading reviews, these lights would be a great addition to your larger fishing kayaks. Waterproof LED strips are pre-cut and installed with 3M adhesive backing. They seem bright, so we would recommend using some sort of dimmer on your inside lights.
